My portrait sessions tend to take a life of their own on shoot day. I always ensure that we plan well and have a general direction we are trying to go, as well as an unexpected story or side we are trying to capture. Once we have that sorted out during the planning period, I try and let the photographs tell how that went. The hope is that we both arrive ready, excited and so scared about what is about to be. Because if there is not even a tiny sliver of nerves and fear, we haven’t pushed quite hard enough. That is the recipe we will chase to get our perfect still.
